Know Your Bra Size
If your bra before the surgery is perfect size you can take the same bra size and check the chart provided to find the correct prosthesis size. You need to know the band size and cup size of your bra. For example 36 B. In this 36 is the band size and B is the cup size.
If your old bra is loose or tight after the surgery, you can find the new size in 3 simple steps.
STEP 1
- Find the Band Size: Measure around your ribcage full circumference just under your existing bust to determine your band size. Ensure the tape measure is not tight and take measurement in inches. This is your under bust measurement. (Let’s assume the band size we got is 33 inches)
STEP 2
- Find the Cup Size: Measure around the fullest part of your remaining breast. That is, start from the centre of your chest bone, take the tape above the nipple of the remaining breast and take it to the back up to the centre of spine. Take this measurement and double it. (Lets assume 19 inches is the half bust, Therefore,19 inches x 2=38 inches is the over bust measurement).
STEP 3
- Take your under bust measurement which you got in STEP 1 and add 4 if it is even no and add 5 if it is odd number.
As per the example in STEP 1, we 33 inches was the under bust measurment, as this number is even add 5, which makes it 38 inches.
Now Compare this number (38 inches) with over bust measurement (i.e. 38 inches).
If the difference in 1 inch smaller, then the cup size is AA
If it is equal, then the cup size is A
If it is 1 inch more, then the cup size is B
If it is 2 inch more, then the cup size is C
If it is 3 inch more, then the cup size is DD
Thus the under bust size of 33 inches and over bust size of 38 inches give you a bra size of 38 A
Now, look at the chart provided and you can find bra size 38A will need prosthesis size of 5
